Big fan of architecture masters such as Alvar Aalto, Mies van der Rohe or Oscar Niemeyer, Kolehmainen is known for his minimalistic and abstract photographs of modern architecture. Recently, after living in Istanbul in 2014 researching on buildings of the Ottoman and Byzantine period, he has been working on photograohs representing the interiors of sacred buildings. His abstract constructivist works composed by layers of light structures on photograpic paper is also very impressive.
After studying at the University of Art and Design Helsinki he became one of te most succesful artists of his generation. Now he lives and works in Berlin.
