Marloes Meijburg is a dutch painter that collects the colours of nature. For Marloes colours are matter and dust, nature and landscape. She grinds stones and earth into pigments, adds a binder and paints with this selfmade paints.
Through the succession of different layers, form structures and textures. This turns her canvasses into landscapes in an almost physical sense in itself, not just an image of it.
With the series ‘This is colour’ she investigates the spectrum of local colours from Les Guilleries Natural Park. On the canvases, we find sandy tones that go from yellow to vermilion; mahogany, copper, sienna and orange browns, blue, whitish and ashen gray.
