About Federico Miró (Málaga, Spain, 1991) View artist profile >>

Federico Miró was born in Malaga in 1991. He graduated in Fine Arts and studied the Master in Art and Creation Research at the Complutense University. He has presented individuals at the Faculty of Fine Arts of his city (in 2013) and the Marta Cervera Gallery (in 2014); since 2011 he has been participating in numerous collectives (at the Picasso Museum, the CAC Málaga, the Casa de Velázquez, the GACMA Gallery or the MAD de Antequera, among many other venues). He has obtained scholarships from the House of Velázquez, the Bilbao Arte Foundation and the Segovian Academy of San Quirce and in just four years has received awards such as the Painting of the University of Málaga (2013), the second in the XXI Young Painters Competition of the Gaceta Foundation of Salamanca and the mentioned one of the XXVII Circuitos de Artes plásticas. He was also a finalist for the Focus-Abengoa and the Griffin Art Prize in 2015, year in which he was selected in the 30th BMW Award; In 2016 he also obtained a special mention in MálagaCrea.

Federico is a young creator whose meticulous work is close to virtuosity and he pours in it all accelerated reflections on the need to combine our living surrounded by technologies that prioritize speed and thoughtless consumption with the enjoyment of our essential side linked to nature or the tradition. It not only claims the artisan in accelerated times through paintings that often evoke woven fabrics and at the same time píxels and in which the landscape is often present; also defends that the integration of the past methods with the new advances can give rise to enriching results. And it does so from the reasoned proposal, more than from open criticism.
