Carmen Calvo is a Spanish conceptual artists that was highly influenced by Spanish pop art and Equipo Crónica. When she was young she worked at a ceramics factory and this is clearly reflected in her work as both ceramic and clay have becomed central elements of her pieces. During the 80s, Calvo started to work with photographs which she modifies with other materials.
Her work has been exhibited in many museums such as IVAM, the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid and even the Guggenheim in New York. She was also representing Spain at the Venice Biennale in 1997.
