About Antonio Saura (Huesca, Spain, 1930) View artist profile >>

Antonio Saura was a post-war spanish artist considered one of the most important avant-garde painters of his time. From his context, we can understand his rough biomorphical shapes, cute and gestured, that suggest passion. In his own words, “it is the imperious need of expressing oneself, using all the energetic possibilities of the universe”. His paintings are often in black and white, working with motifs that show feminine nude shapes and tumultuous crowds.
