About Angelika Schori (Swiss, 1981) View artist profile >>

As a response of the overstimulation of multimedia work of the last 20 years, Schori employs the most traditional of all artistic media, painting, questioning the production processes of art making and challenging the viewer's sense of comfort in front of the work. Even though she uses traditional materials in painting such as canvases and frames, she abstracts them by taking them to unexpected terrains such as the outdoors ir between door frames, creating new experiences for the public and so, questioning the relationship between the viewer and the work.

In the end, Schori's work turns out to be minimal and poetic, creating a dialogue between the piece and the environment, also challenging the exhibition space, being really involved in the installation process since a big part of her work is centred in site specifics.
