Living and working in new York, his first exhibition in the american city took place at PS1 Contemporary Art Center in 2003. In his work, Kempinas employs untraditional materials to create, usually, installations. His favourite material is magnetic tape, which affects the viewer in many senses, visually, aurally and physically. His work is internationally acclaimed since his second show was fully purchased by The Marguiles Collection and was showcased at Art Basel Miami that same year, in 2006. His work has also been shown at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art or the Vienna Kunsthalle, and he represented Lithuana at the 53rd edition of the Venice Biennale. Art Review Magazine reffers to him as one of the “future greats”.
