Noriko Okaku

Birth placeJapan

Okaku is a visual artist based in London. After graduating from her MA at Royal College of Art she began her artistic career exploring different disciplines like animated video, audio, drawing and sculpture but always keeping in mind the element of collage. Through the adaptation and recycling of already existing images, she explores all the possible reinterpretations of this piece. Okaku’s work explores the mysterious aspect of daily life objects aiming to throw some light upon invisible aspects of things.

In 2017, the opening of her solo exhibition Shinwa no Soshitsu took place at HARCOZA gallery in Tokyo. In 2015 she was selected to take part in a commission project curated by the cultural hub Prats and Labour and Animate Projects. Okaku was awarded in 2013 with the best experimental video prize at the Lucca Film Festival.
