Francis Upritchard

Upritchard is a London based artist married to also artist and designer Martino Gamper, with whom she also collaborates.

Her early work referenced museum displays, collections of artefacts and ancient cultures, combining found objects and her own made additions, such as animal heads made of clay inserted to the necks of glass vessels or sporting equipment like hockey sticks.

In 2007 decided to experiment with the human figure made of clay, painted and often dressed with clothes also made by the artist. Upritchard has had exhibitions at the Camden Arts Centre and the Whitechapel Gallery, and has represented New Zeland at the Venice Bienale.
