Catarina is a visual artist and researcher with a multi-disciplinary art practice that extends across the mediums of drawing, installation and video. Her research focuses on the subjects of mind /body relationship and consciousness. The work developed by Catarina has its core idea on the correlation between the idea of human mind confined to its material dimension in relation with individual interaction with time and space. This correlation intents to investigate de questions of creation in relation to consciousness as well as underline the duality of the paradigm mater/non-mater intrinsic to the incarnated condition of the human existence. The guidelines that determine the methodologies of the art practice are established by this duality and are rendered into art production as: repetition, accumulation, transparency, balance, syncretism and imminence
