Albert Ràfols Casamada

Birth placeBarcelona Birth date1923

Spanish poet and painter, he started architecture but soon abandoned it to fully devote himself to art. He also toyed with theatre by designing props and practicing set design.

He has been awarded with many prizes, such as the Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas given by the culture minister in 1980, the Cruz Nacional de Sant Jordi in 1983, the Legión de Honor given by the french government in 1991, or the Premio Nacional de Artes Visuales of Catalonia in 2003.
